Practice
Students should practice for 10 minutes every day per year that they have been playing their instrument. For example, if the student has been playing for less than a year he should practice for 10 minutes each day. If he has been playing for two years, he should practice for twenty minutes each day. The key to excelling is consistent practice.
Materials
Students are required and expected to purchase any materials necessary for lessons. This includes lesson books, picks, drum sticks, etc. Drum students should also have a way to play along with mp3s at home (iPod, computer, CD player, headphones, etc.).
Makeup Lessons
Makeup Lessons are granted for excused absences only. Excused absences include things like death in the family, serious illness, family emergency, etc. Unexcused absences include things like school functions, homework, sports games or practices, forgetting about the lesson, etc. No makeup lessons will be granted for unexcused absences. Only one excused makeup lesson will be given for each student per semester and makeup lessons will not roll over into other semesters.
Holding Your Spot in the Schedule
Once you have booked your lesson spot and paid for lessons, your spot is held until the end of the semester. No refunds will be given except for extreme emergency (family moves out of town, student becomes seriously ill, etc).
Weather Days and Church Cancellations
It is rare that we will have an unexpected closure due to the church closing or extreme weather conditions, but if it happens lessons will be rescheduled for later in the semester. I will post notice on the website and send out an email to any students schedule that day. Be sure to check the website and your email for updates.
